Post office strike ended
The South African post office is pleased to announce that the strike has ended following an announcement by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) today. This comes after the SA Postal and Allied Workers Union (Sapawu), and the Democratic Postal and Communications Union (Depacu) earlier agreed that their members should return to work.
Today, only 0.7 percent of our workforce remains absent from work. As a result, operations in all provinces are now at almost 100 percent capacity.
We would like to extend our sincerest apologies once again to everyone who was inconvenienced by the strike. Plans to work off the backlog have been implemented – the international mail centre, for example, has added a night shift.
